I am an ESRC-funded PhD researcher at The University of Manchester. Working alongside Tom Fryer and Steven Jones, I examine the role of narrative components of admissions processes to higher education, and how those processes impact students from under-resourced backgrounds. I also have a keen comparative interest in British and American admissions systems, especially with regard to holistic and contextualised admissions policies.

Prior to my PhD, I spent the last 10 years working in widening participation. At the University of Bristol, I supported students from under-represented and under-resourced backgrounds to access higher education, and for the last five years, I also led on the evaluation of the University’s interventions across student access, success and progression. Since 2016, I have also directly supported students from under-resourced backgrounds to apply to university with confidence, through Causeway Education's Application Mentoring scheme.
